16th August 2009

Just a reminder of the Queensland Herding Association (QHA) meeting today starting at 10am sharp.

Meetings location: CCCQ Dog Grounds, Kings Ave, Durack QLD

Let’s all meet at the herding area Durack and get some good ideas and plans rolling ...

Debbie has kindly decided to bring a few sheep and ducks for people to work before and after the meeting.
She will have them there at around 8.00 am.
I’m aware that some people are at the stage with their training, where they want to train their dogs to do a good outrun.

After the meeting, there will be time to work with people that want to spend a bit of time looking at how to go about that with their dogs ... to have a few more ideas to help along the way.

For anyone attending the meeting, that would like a hand to make more progress with their outruns, to spend some time working on that after the meeting finishes.

We're aware that some people have other commitments.

Some have told us that they will be juggling showing dogs or obedience commitments with getting to the meeting when they can.

It’s good if people can come, even if they can’t be there for the whole time.

Your ideas and enthusiasm as we plan for the future, is important.

The committee is aware that unfortunately, this meeting time won’t suit everyone.

It’s inevitable that any times chosen, won’t suit all members, but when we arrange things, we’ll do our best to make times that suit as many people as possible.

PLEASE COME IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN. WE NEED EVERYONE’S IDEAS, TO MAKE THE BEST DECISIONS WE CAN, AS WE MOVE FORWARD.

Overall Rex our Border Collie finished in the top 7 dogs out of 2439 entries.

Rex has been a very consistent winner throughout his career which comes as no surprise to his competitors and those fans who have followed his fabulous career.

As a Border Collie working dog Rex has in the past years proven his ability to work by achieving his A course Started title.

To advance to A Course started in herding Rex had to pass a herding instinct test, which consists of showing an interest in sheep in a confined area. Any dog can do this.

Rex then went on to easily qualify for the pre-trial test in herding.

From here it was onto A course started where real herding abilities are required to pass. We're very happy with his out runs.

Rex easily demonstrating a working relationship with handler and stock, his biddable temperament coming to the fore. He really loves to please.

We are without a doubt very pleased with his achievements to date.

Thanks again for all of your phone calls, emails, well wishes, SMS texts, prayers, messages of support and vocal cheering at the EKKA. We really appreciate it, it's been great.

My cheeks were sore again from smiling so hard today, same as last weekend.
